Popular food and travel show, “Man vs. Food” features downtown Fargo restaurants in a new episode premiering tomorrow night.
Currently in its eight-season, “Man vs. Food” features its host Casey Webb, an actor, food lover, and restaurant business veteran from Brooklyn New York, traveling the country exploring “big food” offerings in different cities, before facing a unique eating challenge.
According to the Cooking Channel’s website, Fargo’s “Man vs. Food” episode features a “breakfast-dessert mashup with a Scandinavian spin” from BernBaum’s and ” a hearty take on a cheesy classic” from a yet to be revealed restaurant.
On Sunday, March 1 downtown restaurant BernBaums shared via Facebook they would be featured in an upcoming “Man vs. Food” episode.
This is the second time in less than a week where BernBaum’s has received national notoriety: On Feb. 26, chef Andrea Baumgardner was announced as a semifinalist for the 2020 James Beard Awards, the biggest awards in the restaurant industry.
The episode will conclude with Webb attempting The Boiler Room’s Hot Dish Challenge: a three-pound Midwestern casserole made for a family.
If viewers are interested, The Boiler Room’s General Manager Jenny Robinson says any person can attempt the “hot dish challenge”.
“We bring out the hotdish, which is made up of bison, gravy, vegetables, cheese and also our infamous house-made three-cheese tater tots,” she says. “The individual (attempting the challenge) then has 30 minutes to eat the three-pound dish and if completed, they win a Marge’s Bomber hat.”
The prize is from the establishment next door: Marge’s Bar. Located next to the Boiler Room in the basement of the Loretta building, this small bar features cocktails, local brews and plenty of red flair including flannel wallpaper.
The “Man vs. Food” episode featuring Fargo will premiere Tuesday, March 2 at 9 p.m. CST.
